Hi guys! I am VEERRYYY excited to announce that I will be participating in KCON this year as a panelist along with Nicole, Edward, Victoria, and Zach for the #DoItForTheGram panel. I'm assuming you guys can already guess what this panel will be about. Anything and everything Instagram! Come by on Saturday July 30th 4:00-5:00PM =^u^=

That aside, I would like to take this moment to talk more about how I discovered the wonderful world of KPOP! It started during the Baby V.O.X. & Boa days where I would wait hours upon hours to use my dial up internet connection to download their music videos on limewire. Fast forward a few years, I hit my tween-nage era when I discovered Shinhwa and was a huge fan branching off to Battle Shinhwa, DBSK, SNSD, 2PM, BIGBANG, 2NE1, Shinee, B2st, EPIK High etc. I couldn't wait to get home from school to logon to allkpop and catch up on all the latest kpop news. At a point I was fantasizing about moving to Korea to become a trainee. These thoughts in my head were mixed in with my kdrama-esque fantasies of how I would run into my current boyband crush and how we would make out, fall in love and ya know, all that good stuff. LOL.

Honestly I was an awkward dorky kid without too many friends because I was so shy. Kpop gave me something to look forward to, filled me with hopes and dreams, and entertained the monotony of my everyday life. Especially when I watch videos of boybands doing"fanservice" (*wink wink* props if you guys know what I'm talking about), I almost die of happiness every time. I also watched a lot Korean of variety shows, the best part was that the humor was so funny without vulgarity or sexual innuendos. Not only that, it really made me appreciate music and how well someone sings and portrays their emotions through their voice because I'm not focused on the lyrics of the song (since I don't understand korean, but I did end up taking 2 years of it in college ^.^). I also respect that these singers go through so much training to pursue this sort of career and they keep training even when they're already successful.

Nowadays, generally as life moved forward and I started having less and less idle time, I slowly moved away from Kpop. But I would still put BIGBANG or Epik High on Pandora so I can stay in the loop with some more recent songs and artists. All in all, Kpop will forever have a really special place in my heart. I feel a sort of fondness to it because it reminds me of simple times and how it feels like to be passionately into something that borderlines into obsession ;)

And THAT is why I am so excited for my first KCON this year! Hope to see all of you fellow Kpop fans there! And here are some KCON themed photos that Lex shot of my ridiculously stylish friend Zach and I :)
